Wilson Medical Center is a 294-bed, community hospital built in the 1960s and is the only hospital in North Carolina’s Wilson County. The original HVAC system cooled and heated the patient rooms with under-window induction units.
The Wilson Medical Center’s 4-phase, 4-year project is a complete interior renovation of the facility along with many upgrades. As part of the renovation, the existing induction units are being removed and replaced with 4-pipe chilled beams. The standard patient rooms are receiving Swegon’s Parasol 4-way chilled beams and the Behavioral Health rooms utilize Swegon’s Paragon soffit-beams.
The project engineer planned to employ 4-way, 4-pipe chilled beams in the standard patient rooms for optimal air distribution. The engineering team also needed a chilled-beam solution for the Behavior Health rooms that would allow installation of anti-ligature grilles as required by hospital standards.
Swegon was able to provide a solution for both types of chilled beams: the 4-way, 4-pipe units and the soffit-mount units that allow different styles and types of grilles to be installed over the induction and supply air openings. Swegon’s 4-way, 4-pipe chilled beam was a perfect solution for the standard patient rooms because of its fantastic occupant comfort characteristics: Low sound, anti-draft control air vanes, and great air distribution. Swegon’s Paragon beams are one of the few available on the market that are soffit mounted and have the capability to use anti-ligature grilles (supplied by our rep) that can be installed over the induction and supply air openings.
WE TAKE WHAT WE DO SERIOUSLY...
Because our solutions have a direct and indirect impact on the people and the environment around us.
As our indoor climate solutions take the entire picture into consideration to create productive and healthy indoor environments, it feels natural for us to do the same when working with sustainability.
